It is expected that by the next 20 years, medicinal drugs would be ruling the market that we know today. This was all made possible because of a significant discovery by an Israeli researcher, Dr. Ralph Mechoulam, made in the early 1990’s regarding the presence of special CBD-detecting receptors being located in the mammalian brain. He found out that the brain of humans and some of the mammals has a special endocannabinoid system (ECS) located in their brain which allows them to detect and respond to CBD and THC, the two of the most important compounds found in the hemp plant. His researches also discovered CB1 and CB2, two G-protein coupled receptors which are produced by the ECS of our body.
The re-ceptors are attached to the pre-synaptic membrane and trigger a response from the brain based on the interaction that takes place at the reception site. The brain ECS is also linked to many physiological processes such as mood, memory, appetite, sleep and pain sensation along with the female reproductive system. CB1 and CB2 express themselves more thoroughly in the brain and immune system, but their concentration varies from one species to another. The human endo-cannabinoid system is a miraculous system and should be up kept properly.
